‘Butterfly House’ is to become the new home of Karen Beale, a client of MatchBox Architects Ltd (MBA). Karen is delighted she put her faith in MBA after being inspired at the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show 2015. This new ecologically focused dwelling will be situated in the open countryside outside Alresford, and is landscaped to encourage bees and butterflies back into an area previously used as a commercial orchard. Planning permission was granted by Tendring District Council.
“Our district needs more buildings like this!” insists Matthew Lang, Planning Officer “I am all for promoting high quality, contemporary architecture, and am looking forward to seeing this project take shape.”
The scheme aims to have a minimal impact on the site so that it can be removed as easily as it can be constructed. A simple pallet of gabion construction, exposed concrete, glass and timber help to ground the scheme in its surroundings. Glimpses through the tree lined boundaries allow the building to be viewed from the roadside ensuring that the project is not hidden from scrutiny.
Karen is now excited to be able to start the construction process and looks forward to living in her new home in 2017.
